How the Nomex®IIIA Fiber Works:

When exposed to flame, the Nomex® aramid fiber carbonizes and becomes thicker, closing air spaces in the fabric and forming a protective barrier between the heat source and the skin.  Fabric of the Nomex®IIIA remains supple until it cools, giving the wearer valuable extra seconds of protection for escape.  Nomex®IIIA also incorporates a static dissipative fiber blend that can make garments more comfortable to wear and helps reduce risk of static build-up

Key Benefits:

· Durability: outstanding tear, abrasion, and chemical resistance.

· Comfort: lightweight, breathable comfort is often preferred over other protective fabrics.

· Easy Care: Garments exhibit minimal shrinkage and rarely need ironing.

· Inherently flame resistant: the protection is permanent; laundering and wear

will not remove the flame resistance.

· Fabric will not melt, drip, burn or support combustion.

Fabric/Garment Details:

· Nomex®IIIA Fabric is twill weave with 2-ply filament warp and 2-ply filament yarns.  12 oz Duck is a basket weave with ring spun, 2-ply fill yarns.

· Nomex®IIIA Fabric is wind and snag resistant, as is our 12 oz. Duck.

· Nomex®IIIA Fabric is as durable as our 12 oz. Duck.

· Nomex®IIIA Fabric is treated with Shelltite®, a water repellent and stain release finish.  Our 12 oz. Duck has a     water-repellent finish.

· Body styles are that of regular Carhartt garments with added safety features.

· One the coat, jacket, and overalls, there is an added flap behind the zippers to protect the body from the zipper   teeth.

· Triple stitched main seams. Nomex®IIIA is an inherently flame-resistant aramid and static dissipative fiber blend manufactured only by DuPont®.  It is used in protective apparel to help shield wearers from flames, flash fires and electric arcs.
